Did a little test the other night to see whether or not the car flames on WOT in gear compared to just revving the engine, think the video speaks for itself...

Taking a trip to see Romain soon so that he can get the map on my car fixed and sorted for good, and also to have a play around with the launch control settings to see if we can get some flames going :D

(So childish I know, but we're all just big kids!)

UPDATE TIME! (Yes it's been a while)

Now that I'm a bit more financially stable it's time to bring my Supra to another level. Me and my mechanic (who I'm also doing work experience with) will remove the HKS GT2835 kit and replace it with a 6466 Gen 2 divided housing, twin scroll manifold and single 60mm wastegate, whilst also tidying up a lot of the crap that was left very messy in the engine bay from the previous mechanic. A seal has gone in my gearbox which will also be swapped, and in general I just want to tidy her up and have it to a standard that doesn't do my head in at night - including having it re-mapped.

The biggest b*****d of a job that also needs to be done is the bushings at the rear which are causing some pretty horrendous wheel hop, as well as some new rear tyres and maybe change up the bodywork a bit. Might go for a stock front with a lip!

Made a start today:

The turbos will be up for sale soon on the forum and eBay etc after they've been given a good clean. Watch this space!

Time for an experiment :D

Rather than spending £1500+ on a turbo manifold, me and Damian are gonna try something a little different. As he is fully qualified in MIG/TIG welding, I've just purchased a GORGEOUS, TOP OF THE LINE (insert laughing face here) Chinese manifold from eBay for £138 inc. shipping. For anyone interested, it's 321 stainless steel (which I never knew even existed) with a T4 divided flange. Looking at the images the runners look like they go to the collector in the correct order for a divided manifold:

Now, the plan is to inspect it once it arrives, if it's a total and complete waste of time, we'll sell it on. However, if it looks even half decent and if the runners go to the collector in the correct firing order, we will re-weld the whole thing, brace it from header to flange and flange to engine bay, machine the header and flange, cut off the wastegate pipes and re-locate them (looking at the image it's a very tight 90 degree angle, not the best for promoting gas flow) and blast the whole inside to rid ANY bits of swarf that may be hanging around.

If it all goes to crap, then I'll count my loses and buy a proper manifold. However, if it all works out, I'll have a very decent manifold for the price of ~£400 as the welding etc will only cost £200-£300.

THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT! I cringe just as much as most of you putting such a cheap and very important item on a high powered Supra, but if it pays off I would have saved myself a lot of money. I guess the plan is to run it on my car for a year and see how it holds up. More updates to come soon

the issue with those manifolds isnt really down to the welds. The welds breaking are a side effect of the cheap, thin wall tube used. You may also need to skim the primary flange whete it meets the head etc. then you'll need to make a custom downpipe.

Plus, ypu may possibly save some money here, but you will knock maybe circa £2k off the value of your car.

You're absolutely right - my primary concern is a. The tubing being too thin to use at all and b. The runners going to the collector in the wrong order for a divided. As for it impacting the value of the car, this doesn't bother me as it's not gonna be sold anytime soon! If anything it will make my insurance a bit cheaper ;)

EDIT: the header flange will be machine skimmed same as the turbo flange, as for the downpipe fabricating things isn't a problem - Damian makes manifolds from scratch so making a downpipe will be a walk in the park hopefully
