ScottC
Are you 100% sure you've connected all the Grounds up at the earthing points in the kick panels? Looking at the wiring diagrams for the mirrors and arial suggests you haven't. Can you remove the plug from the antenna control relay and do a continuity test between terminal 6 Black/white to Ground? Unplug the mirror switch and check continuity between terminal 2 Black/white to ground. supra matt
Right where is the relay for the dash lighting? I need to pull is and check its not stuck on, that would also explain it. Also would an ECU fault make this happen? Im not sure what i could have done to it but maybe i broke it taking things out? Im starting to think i will rip it all out, buy a new dash loom and ecu and pay someone to put it back in. I really wish i had left it all alone now. As said above mate have checked you have not mixed up the old clock plug and the dash light plug as this is the one I was on about when I mentioned the hazard light sw , Also you won't of done anything to the ecu mate as the car runs , if I was nearer I would pop over and have a look for you [emoji17] ,
The Raven
I found two grounds, one footwell on each side. As far as i know they are the only ones I have unplugged everything but the right hand side of the dash warning lights....The oil red light remains on However unplugging the clocks removes the oil low orange light. Having to spoken to my bro in law who helped me take it out we are now going to remove everything, dash, loom, the whole lot..But this time we will unclip all the plug points..That way i have access to the whole loom with all the components plugged in, That should rule out a missed plug and or ground point
supra matt
So you have just mixed up the clock supply and the dash warning light plugs mate swap them over and should be fine
Mike2JZ
If you need a hand, lemme know and I can pop over
The Raven
So you have just mixed up the clock supply and the dash warning light plugs mate swap them over and should be fine No matt, i have unplugged them both but the issue still shows as i left the right hand side warning panel plugged in. Probably didnt explain myself to well. Everything from radio to clock to heater to dials is now unplugged. The only thing ive left in is the warning lights on the top right hand side (engine and two oil lights) they are still on all the time. I unplugged the speedo/rev/fuel clocks and it made the oil low light go out.
The Raven
OK back on this today, Aim is to test both footwell ground wires, if they prove ok, then its remove the dash time, but leave the loom and all plugins dangling. That way i can check everything is plugged in. Then if all that fails i will get another loom. WIth anyluck there isnt a big call for them and Keron has another one, that fails then no other option but to get it to auto electricians. As matt said you only learn from making mistakes and putting them right.

The Raven
OK took it apart today, Removed every single plug in, also took out the whole dash, then checked every connection and re plugged everything back in with the dash out. The problem is still there, so i guess its new loom time.
The Raven
OK screw this, Spoke to keron who advised that maybe it was the barrel. I had already tried pulling it main wire, but like a fool i pulled it once the battery was on. So i tried this again, and bingo the lights all bugger off. Replug it in and all is working fine. However the dash is now in the garage and the steering wheel is on the floor, and im still not sure what made it do it. So i will change the main point at the back of the key and refit stuff. So its possible that the failure would have happened anyway, regardless of if i fitted the new loom or not. This kind of thing only happens to me Edited February 2, 2015 by The Raven (see edit history)

The Raven
IM not counting any chickens just yet. I fail to see how it works now but didn't earlier, This is more or less what it did last time before it went crazy Id be alot happier if i could find the part at fault. The Raven
OK back on this again today. When i left it it was all turning off and on, ive been a bit busy to start back on it again, im hoping it will just be a case of putting speedo converter back in taking it out to make sure it all works and reinstalling the dash. But i know my luck, its never that easy is it

mattdavies
Thats good to hear. Did you find out what it was exactly ?
The Raven
The best anyone could work out is i missed a plug, that in turn caused the system to get confused. It more or less worked like a skybox/pc sometimes you just need to turn it off and start it again, The problem was i was starting the car, then removing what i thought was the correct plug, Keron pointed out that the signal had been sent and to remove the battery, remove the plug, put battery on then put plug back in. Bingo more or less a reset of the barrel, so yeah i stripped the dash out again for no reason. Live and learn
