Kendo11
Just changing my rear brake discs and calipers and adjusted the handbrake notch thing behind the hub face. I'm refitting everything now and I read somewhere you need to adjust the notch thing all the way back in, then back down around 6-8 times. However it just keeps going, doesn't seem to be hitting a tight point. Do I need to do this with the handbrake on? Am I spinning it wrong? (up and away from me)? Any help would be appreciated! Mk4Gaz
With the handbrake off, spin in until the brake shoes grip the disc, so it's difficult to turn. Then back it off a couple of turns, so the disc spins freely again. That's it
Kendo11
I think I may have loosened it too much, as it's not moving back into the spring
Kendo11
This is the spring position at the moment

Mk4Gaz
Can you not use a small pry against the shoe, to push it back towards the adjuster, then once you got a couple of spins on the adjusting star, it should start to bite the thread again
Kendo11
Just been trying that with every bloody tool I've got haha. Will keep trying

Kendo11
I'm not sure of that's just because it's wound so far back in
Benjy
It's not wound in, that's wound all the way out!

Kendo11
Yeah it's too far out mate, wound it out way too much. Will sort it next weekend.
Kendo11
Little update, got this just about done today. The little spring/washer set up on either shoe was bloody fiddly to say the least. Very straightforward job though.
