marc_p
Thanks Dude But there's no point , I will still have 22 year old ball joints. I have the front done in Super Pro and between the labour cost to press in and out the bushes , it much of a muchness but with the benefit of new Ball joints Unless your ball joints are knackered, then there is no need to replace them. I also did the bushes myself, so no labour cost, as long as you have a vice, sockets(and maybe a blow torch), then you can always do them yourself . jot_ie
I am replacing the entire rear suspension, (both sides), except for shocks, after my car was stolen and damaged some time ago, with all new oem parts. Upper and lower control arms, both sides, all new nuts and bolts, axle carriers, bearings, hubs, drop links as well as one new half shaft and speed sensor. Cost was around the 3K mark but remember that's in Euros here in Ireland, and the Toyota garage is giving me a 20% discount. For example I paid the equivalent of £272 (including Irish VAT @23% but with a Toyota 20% discount), for one rear upper control arm. I have heard these are around the £400 mark in the UK. For once something in Ireland is cheaper :-) John

dangerous brain
Discontinued? What are we supposed to do about replacement arms if toyota begin discontinuing this stuff? I need some front suspension arms by the sounds of it as I sold the car this week not realising the MOT had run out. To get it through the MOT it will need some suspension bits as it had started knocking at the front end. Does anybody know what the front end parts cost from Toyota with Steve Manleys discount? Chris Wilson
Toyota has had MKIV stuff disappearing off the parts list for years. I try and buy new old stock from time to time. Depending just what is discontinued the options are repair, recreate or re-engineer. The logistics of this vary as to whether you are talking anti roll bar link (trivial) or a differential crown wheel and pinion, (far from trivial, excruciatingly expensive in very small quantities, and probably easier to transplant a diff from something else if used ones dry up). A "spares" car or 3 makes sense if you are one of those people who claim "I will NEVER *EVER* sell it!"
