Mike2JZ
So driving to Medway today and the heater water pipe that exits behind the bulkhead has split. So pissing coolant and looks like I'm not getting home. Before I give up and call recovery, is there anything that people can think of to try to seal the split, at least short term. I've tried exhaust heating tape and gaffer but still getting a leak
Rich.2211
Can you bung both hoses and bypass the heater matrix?
j_jza80
I used one of these to isolate my heater matrix http://www.dixonhall.co.uk/app/users_content/product_images/full/product_1356_full_1.jpg You'd need to order them from a plumbers merchants - Yorkshire Fittings YP20 15mm return bend. Fits inside the pipe perfectly. Then use suitable jubilee clips.

Mike2JZ
The issue isn't with the heater matrix leaking, sorry if that was unclear. The hose going out the bulkhead that goes onto the matrix has split by the bulkhead, so I can't really put a bung in very easily. Anyway, leaving the car parked up overnight and will trailer it tomorrow to get sorted. Shit happens I guess
supra_ufo
you mean these pictured? If so they need to be replaced, they go straight into the HM
Mike2JZ
No behind the engine itself, thought that was called the bulkhead maybe not
Littler
I think you are referring to the pipe that comes out the back of the head and the one that isn't easy to get to! It leads to one of the heater matrix pipes but the leak is nearer the outlet on the head which is a pain to get to? Mike2JZ
Exactly that littler . Gonna have some fun trying to fix that tomorrow

The Raven
Dude you and your heater! Where is the car?
Chris Wilson
If you had taped it up as best as you could, then left the rad cap on the first detent so it was not able to seal, the system wouldn't pressurise. It would probably have got you back with a top or two.
Mk4Gaz
I had the same hose go just before jae '13. Was a total sod to replace, the new one was about £30 from Toyota iirc. Easiest way, is to whip the cam covers off. Makes it much, much easier!
