uzzyuzzy
Looked at the crank pulley and looks worn with a chip. Should I buy a toyota genuine part or after market and also is this something that should be fixed immediately or potentially cause greater damage. Littler
I would do the tipex test, this will confirm whether it needs immediate action. If you mark a tipex line on the 2 sections of the crank pulley and start the engine if the marks are not lining up as they were when the engine is then turned off you should get a new one. I would always go with OEM with the crank pulley, a lot of aftermarket ones do not fit (to tight on the thread etc) properly or are not dampened. That said I believe Lee @ SRD has had some good success with a certain aftermarket crank pulley but I can't remember the brand.
uzzyuzzy
Thank you for the quick response Any idea what kind of labour costs for fitting a new one.
Littler
Thank you for the quick response Any idea what kind of labour costs for such a job? I had one changed in an hour (ish) from memory but the rate is obviously garage dependant.
