Iky
Hi, Hopefully some one can help me sort this issue. None of the warning lights apart from door open and airbag are working. Windows.dont work and neither does the speedo cluster. Also the alternator is not charging the battery. All this has occured at the same time. Alternator is working as i have tested it on another supra and the working one off that car did not work on mine. I have checked all fuses with a multimeter and could not find a duff one. Another odd thing is the door chime is on even when key is in ignition on position/car started, when door is opened. It starts fine but dies when battery runs out of charge. Just need some advise on which wires/connectors to check. Would this have anything to do with the ignition switch? np89
Regulator rectifier is away - - - Updated - - - car doesnt have enough power to run itself and is only running key systems such as the ecu
Chris Wilson
Look at the big "boxed" fuses in the underbonnet fuse box, I suspect one has blown. One of them is in the main feed from the alternator I think. Is this the car someone rang me about yesterday? Sounds like a fuse or a wire off, now you have ascertained the alternator is good. Theres the 120A alternator one which is also fine. Ive tried wiggling wires around. I guess the next step would be to get the multimeter out and check each power wire. np89
Regulator rectifier is usually clipped to the side of the alternator with a plug going into it.
np89
Scratch that. Checked the EPC diagram. Its contained within the rear of the alternator housing
Iky
Scratch that. Checked the EPC diagram. Its contained within the rear of the alternator housing Can't be that as the alternator works fine on another car. Was giving 14.5v
np89
The alternator putting out the correct voltage has nothing to do with the reg rec. If it isnt working it wont charge the battery which in turn gives your issue. Alternator can be working fine but have a dodgy reg rec

I have found the problem! It was the guage fuse in the drivers kick panel. A bit corroded. When i was testing with multimeter it was reading ok with getting pushed in. It looked pretty old and cheap quality compared to the others. Thanks to Chris and np89
