Guest andy thomas
I have a 1996 na 5 speed jza80 which i got for a good price, it was $6700 and is mint however i want a twin turbo bad, i have been quoted a half cut aristo with a r154 box and the vvti 2jzgte for $3500, i have a mechanic with a workshop that will help put in the engine and gearbox in for free and I want to get my wiring done professionally. i have looked at many threads but most are auto so sorry if this is annoying i know you need a new diff etc but will need a parts list and what i need to look out for and what problems will occur anyway and i think that by the time this is finished it will cost a max of $18000 compare to buying a rz which costs $22000 at minimum in perth will it be worth it please help me, i will also be changing the brakes suspension and maybe diff included in the $18000 estimate i hope it will be cheaper please try and help with pricing too
jumpbike
Engine from Aristo, sump from your Supra engine but will need turbo drains adding on or source a TT supra sump. R154 is 1JZ fitment so you will need a 1JZ flywheel and clutch kit as the bell housing is smaller than a 2jz. ECU from Aristo but with usual mods to convert the auto ECU to work with a manual. Not sure on parts like prop shaft when using the R box. You should have 80% of the parts between the 2 cars, will just need some small modifications and obviously wiring, best using the TT loom etc. I personally fitted a none turbo lexus sump to a supra TT engine to fit in another car and just had the modify the drains as the NA sump was blanked off. dangerous brain
I'm guessing the donor will already have the clutch sorted if it was previously running. As per the same sort of question I asked you'll need a modification of some sort to make your clocks work which by all accounts Keron knows about. With it being manual I imagine you'll have less wiring problems not more especially if the donor was running and they'd sorted out the park switch and neutral switch issues. Guest FullAttack
Do it! R154 is a great box, I deal with them often.. Won't be hectic to convert, straight fit parts most of them.. Wiring will be tricky if you want everything like instrument cluster to work, but find a decent wiring dude and it shouldn't be to hard:)
