Scott
Sounds like the control board is starting to get some dry solder joints. Happens from time to time. I would pick up a spare, generally £15, and see if that sorts it. You'll always be able to move it on

sidewaysdan
Ok update time. So I changed the heater controll unit with another and still the same. is it likely it's the actual blower/fan unit itself, is this a common problem. Cheers for any advice
Mike2JZ
I had a spare heater system laying around and dissembled it recently so I've got one of everything from it, if you need any bits lemme know.
sidewaysdan
Is that the fan behind glovebox? Cheers
Scott
The fan is the heater matrix assembly. Full dash off to replace it.

Scott
Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have a feeling it's the little box on top of the stereo but I can't be sure. Mine is now presenting the same problem after recently fitting an oil pressure/temperature gauge. I have a feeling I've pulled on a harness somewhere.
