Help! Triangle warning light and engine light

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Help!

Engine warning light and warning triangle have both come on after about 10 miles.

Turned off engine, let it a few minutes and drove for a bit and it came back on.

Now sat in a layby looking for a piece of wire to check the diagnostics port.

Other than the lights, the car seems fine.

It's worth noting that the o/d light has always flashed due to speed sensor (code 42 iirc)

It might also be worth mentioning that I changed the stereo yesterday.

Any thoughts?

Thx

Ben.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Brake fluid is fine.

Also it doesn't happen on heavy acceleration, which I thought was the cause of the intermittent brake fluid warning.

It first happened driving normally at around 75mph on a dual carriage way.

I'll have another look at it tomorrow and maybe see if Keron has a sensor I can buy.

Its to do with the speed sensor fault. The AIT fault is due to the car seeing load there and no corresponding speed to match it. Fix the speed sensor error and they rest will fix itself. Why would you ever drive about with a speed sensor error anyway. Affects everything!!

Thanks for all the suggestions and help. Much appreciated.

It looks like the ODO buffering was at fault.

I bypassed it by snipping pink wire and attaching the loom side to the blue/red on the back of the ODO and even after a spirited run, no more flashing o/d light and no more error 42. The O/D light used to be on within 1/2 mile.

I knew that it had a 42 error from previously diagnosing the flashing O/D but this week was the first time it had led to the ! And engine light coming on.

Anyway, I'm well happy that it was nothing serious.
