Kaan W
Looks ok to me, I think 130psi is the minimum you would want or more than 10% difference between cylinders.

Kaan W
Just found this - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?231848-Compression-Test&highlight=compression+test
Nic
See 'Engine Mechanical' link here, it details the compression test result. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/content.php?51-Repair-Manuals
Mk4Gaz
Did you do the test with the throttle held wide open bud? I done mine a few weeks ago, before going single, and I had almost exactly 180 psi on all 6 cylinders
Chris Wilson
Do a leak down test after running it up to temp. It's a lot more meaningful than a basic compression test.
esskiboy
25% across the board. Thoughts please.
Chris Wilson
The figures you posted earlier look OK to me.
esskiboy
The figures you posted earlier look OK to me. Chris -the most recent figures are for the leak down. Not sure if that is what you where referring to.
Chris Wilson
25% leakdown is poor, but i suspect as they are all even (I presume you mean all 4 cylinders showed 25% leakage?), you have not domne it correctly. Are you sure the test was valid on a warm engine as quickly as possible after shut down, with the throttle held open? I can get F3 engines down to less than 2% (but not for long, one race sees them around 3 to 4%). A fresh road car engine should do 5 to 10% pretty easily.
