Intercooler swap

Recommended Posts

Have swapped the original side mount intercooler today from the original to a whifbitz version.

This is from a 1994 M UK spec supra, not been on the forum for a long time and the car has been stood for last few years.

Im working my way through the old original hoses, fuel and brake lines etc

This is the state of the old intercooler

Are the oil cooler and radiator combined on Auto Uk specs like the jap spec?

Thanks

Yes :)

Would you mind taking some pics of the swap, and any parts that were particularly tricky? I'm doing the swap myself in a few weeks, so any help would be appreciated. :)

Hope all goes well with your fitting, it was a straight forward job just a little awkward working through the wheel arch.

Looks like radiator and oil cooler are my next jobs!!

Nice chunk of overspray on that - must have helped it no end!

When i bought the car it had a veilside front bumper with poor paintwork, it looked like they didnt bother masking anything off, alot of plastic parts under the bonnet must have been sprayed at the same time too and look crap.

I had a stock bumper and full respray just before i parked it up.

Im just working my way through it tidying it up, have had the car 7 years but it was parked up for 3 years due to buying first house and work commitments.

Have more time and money now to sort it out.

When fitting the new intercooler, keep the protective card on at the back of it (if it has some- if not it's a good idea) until it's in place as it protects the fins from bumping and bending on the brake disc as it's a tight squeeze

Oh and if you're short on intercooler hose to reconnect it, loosten the othe side at the intake manifold and wiggle it to steal a cm or two ;)

New coolant and new top and bottom whifbitz rad hoses fitted today and full service.

I am going to get the cambelt done next can anyone recommend other parts to do at the same time. I was thinking water pump, and crank pulley and auxiliary belt at the same time.

MOT on monday fingers crossed.
