ABS Light on - MoT not happening!

Best to actually phone Keron.

I am just thinking of your issue. for the ECU to "know" there's an issue with the solenoid it must see a short or open on the driver output. Whilst I suppose the driver transistor itself could be the issue i would have thought something external to the ABS ecu would be the cause. Disconnect the ecu plug and the solenoid plug and check for shorts to ground or open circuit between the connector to the ECU and the solenoid itself. Interesting problem :)

Keron's on the case!

I'll pass that on to the engineers - cheers Chris.

No mate, just the useless 'Let's Try and Kill You as You Pull Out of a Junction' standard fit TC!

The reason I asked is because I had the exact same thing, but because I have RLTC the car would hardly drive as it wasn't getting a signal from the broken ABS sensor, and would send the RLTC into a fit and harsh cut the injectors. As soon as I turned off the RLTC the car would drive exactly like yours.

I'll bet a beer its a broken ABS sensor.

His car is stock in that regard, no RLTC fitted. The stock ABS ecu does (or at least *should*) indicate no wheel speed sensor signal by means of a code, and apparently it's not doing that. Good call though.

Aaah good point about the error code, I'm sure I ascertained which wheel sensor was faulty by the code, it was a long time ago :/

OK some progress but we need some advice/help from the techies.

The engineers have run a wire from the ABS pump back to the ECU which takes away the problem completely.

There is a yellow and green wire signal wire running from the ABS pump back to the ECU which obviously has a break in it somewhere but the guys can't find exactly where it runs to in the loom. Anybody know where this would run to? Any multi-plugs where it could be apart/split etc?

We're almost there! They could run a wire directly bypassing the faulty wire but would very much like to trace the problem properly and find where this wire has split or failed.

Just properly splice in the new wire with glue sealed Raychem crimps and be done with it. That's my advice. Chasing down thge plug and socket or whatever at fault, id'ing the correct terminals and sourcing them, splicing them in, blah blah. Time is money and it sounds like it's eaten plenty of both. Just tape the new wire to the loom and be done with it!

BTW, I *THINK* this goes to a connector up and to the left of the engine ecu in the LH foot well, but far from certain on that. You could separate, contact cleaner spray, and re-connect all the plugs and sockets down there, but then you might ~#$@ something else up in the process ;)

Cheers Chris - have passed that on. It's a bit of a maze with the wiring loom and I think even they are readying the Raychems as we speak!

If anybody knows exactly where it goes, great, if not, it's getting spliced!!

Well the broken wire has been traced to the engine bay and that's about as far as it goes now. Now wire spliced in to bypass the last remaining bit and the light is off.

MoT now passed and car can be collected tomorrow. A frustrating episode but hardly life-threatening. Next will be tackling why the O/D light and Slip Cont Off lights are still flashing merrrily!

So if anybody has ideas on that one, let me know! Speed delimiter sounds to be the issue but am not sure.
