Matty_L
Hey guys, I've put a 3UZ V8 in my Supra from a GS430, only issue is the oil filter housing is too close to the steering rack, even with a relocation adapter its against the rack. So I could do with moving the steering rack forward a few inches. Has anyone ever done this? Is there likely to be any geometry issues with doing this? Cheers
Guest Budz86
Never heard of the rack being moved but watching with interest
LOGIE
Pics would help get a better opinion from some of the gurus on here. Could the engine mounts/brackets not be moved slightly?
Matty_L
Thanks for the replys. After doing a bit more research I might be able to use my 1UZ housing. I'm doing the swap at a mates house so I'll get some picks when I next go over there.
Justin Bieber
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?854418-EDH_Performance-Supra-MkIv-with-a-big-twist!&p=11211994&viewfull=1#post11211994 That may help, he has managed to swap it to the far side, he is certainly getting some flak but it will be interesting if he manages to pull his project off! Chris Wilson
You *CANNOT* move a rack up and down, or forward and back relative to the steering arms!!! Fore and aft will affect Ackerman angle and cause the ratio to also change with lock. Up and down will cause chronic bump steer. Just don't even think about it unless you are able to re engineer the whole front suspension kinematics. I have not read the Supraforums posts, would rather ask the mole catcher for his opinion

Matty_L
The 1UZ housing solved the problem, it moved it in front of the steering rack and allowed me to keep the cooler too Just needed a filter relocation kit to avoid hitting the ARB Thanks for all the replys & info.
