Pete
They're the ones that can't get registered!
hob
how much does it cost to import a latter model jap vehicle? I mean over standard 10 year old car?
Pete
You can't (unless it's an NA). No model report available for TT. That's why they fetch more money and are so rare. Do a search for "Model Report" and have fun reading it all through many many threads.
Pete
Sorry - I'm confusing things a little. What I mean is you can't import any car after 97 without a model report. Any car younger than 10 years and pre 97 needs an SVA. Price depends on what needs doing to get it through. SVA test itself is 150 quid I think...plus all conversions to MPH, fog lights etc. etc.

Any car younger than 10 years and pre 97 needs an SVA. Sorry Pete I'm being dim ! So would a 1997 6 speed TT be okay ? It's not 10 years old, so I thought it would need an SVA - but 'any car after 97' would suggest a 97 car is okay ? Cheers buddy Matt

Muffleman
Is there any way of getting one through ? I don't know, say it's a late '96 for example ?
Pete
You need the japanese deregistration docs I believe which clearly state the manufacturer date. If you could, then people would.
SimonB
You could in theory have a test conducted to the appropriate Directive standard (Directive Test) for CO2/Fuel Consumption which is the area you need for post 97 cars. There's only a couple of places that do them, they would be very expensive I suspect and I think the basic problem is that the TT Supra just wouldn't pass, and nobody is going to risk importing a car only to find out it can't be registered.
