TheTurtleshead
Looks like it's had a front ender at some point and been pulled back into shape. Any plans to get it on a jig? Poor crusty old beast.

Chris Wilson
That's a prime candidate for dipping. Looks mighty expensive, almost to the point of finding a LHD donor from abroad being more cost effective unless you can still buy all the bits needed new. Once the bog is gone it'll be half the weight it is now
Fitz
Looks like bog roll on the front in that last pic [emoji16] Just looking at those new pics you put up. Looks to be some form of cylindrical polystyrene protection.

Chris Wilson
http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/technical-process.html But for God's sake get it phosphate dipped before collecting or it will rust again before you have it back to the workshop (well, almost..... ). Blasting doesn't address rust in seams and box sections. The all important scuttle area doesn't look bad. Hee heee, back in the day we thought that a complicated wiring loom, little did we know what the future held. Benjy
Hee heee, back in the day we thought that a complicated wiring loom, little did we know what the future held. I went on a CAN BUS seminar a couple of weeks back. All it made me think was "Do I reeeeally want to carry on with this job?!!?" It's certainly taking shape Graham! Looking forward to the post blast pictures.

Down chatting with the guys about next step this weekend, should be completely stripped by then. I went on a CAN BUS seminar a couple of weeks back. Chris Wilson
CAN BUS, a design where a bad connection on one single wire can bring a car to its knees.....
grahamc
Went down to the bodyshop today.... car is mostly stripped and the remainder of the items will be stripped. No more hidden nasties, the front inner fenders are the worst and sadly its general the first thing to go. Sunroof has been removed and no damage there, just need to seal it up and get a new rooflining. Shell and parts will getting blasted in the early parts of January. I need a couple of parts, but nothing too serious:- 1. Passenger side fender (worst case I only need the front section/half) 2. Front windscreen, it had a few chips in the screen, but they cracked when the screen was taken out 3. Front slam panel (well not sure if thats the right name, since the bonnet does not close on it) 4. Dash repair or dash console Looks like everyone is confident to have the car finished by spring 2015, the aim is to have it ready for a Nissan Experience day.... which looks possible Edited December 20, 2014 by grahamc (see edit history)

grahamc
Fingers crossed, what are you blasting it with, soda ? correct
Chris Wilson
I would dip it, or there'll still be rust in the seams between spot welds. But interested to see how soda blasting goes, I have used it on carbon panels extensively and it's very gentle *IF* the operator takes his time and keeps the pressure down. It's also incredibly messy
