chazuk
I originally had my oil pressure sensor mounted in the Lexus bolt mod I had a faulty sensor and Ryan said it also had allot of noise on the line probably engine vibration so I decided to buy a new oil sensor I went for the better version of the brass one which is an alloy Aem sensor same voltage output/scaling I have double checked this on the Syvecs with sensor data sheet The new location is mounted in one of my oil cooler lines out of the sandwich plate using one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160826735608?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Readings are; (note my warm idle is just over 1k) Stone cold 110psi /7.5bar 90c temp 45psi /3bar I have not been able to drive it as the weather is bad today so just wondering if those readings sound right or not and would my location cause a higher reading? chazuk
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35497-Oil-pressure-reading&highlight=oil+pressure+reading Cheers David I did do some searching some on SF some have 120psi cold others state it should not be higher than 85-90psi , I did fit a cheap china gauge and mechanical sensor to the Lexus bolt to test while it was up on the ramp and that sat at around 90psi from cold so I am guessing not much to worry about . I just remembered I still have my spa dual oil pressure gauge somewhere and the Lexus bolt is still in I could run this alongside the syvecs sensor and see what the readings are to see if there is a variation between the locations
David P
Note that T.T. and N/A read differently because of oil squirters and different pressure relief valve spring pressure.
Luxluc
7.5 bar is high at idle (cold engine). I have to check on mine, but I have 7 bar max on cold when cruising at 3000-3500 rpm.

Let me know Luc what yours is on startup cold and where is your sensor located ?
Scott
Bit of a bump here. I've just wired up my oil pressure/temp gauge and it's not quite reading what I expected. The trouble is that it's a 100PSI digital thingymabob and it's just reading "HI" when I start it. I don't want to go out and get it warm enough to drop the oil pressure, as it's a little late at night to be annoying the neighbours with a seriously loud Supra droning. Just want to get a little insight if it's thought that >100PSI is OK with the 2JZ when sitting at around 0-5DegC?
bignum
Yes 100psi is good/normal.
Scott
Cheers Num, will check it out tomorrow to see at which point it drops down. I dare say it won't take long Knew I should have bought a 150PSI one
Chris Wilson
Put electronic pressure transducers on -3 or -4 braided hose, and mount the transducer on the bodyshell. Engine vibration and heat is what usually kills them.
Scott
Put electronic pressure transducers on -3 or -4 braided hose, and mount the transducer on the bodyshell. Engine vibration and heat is what usually kills them. It's built right onto one of those sandwich plates that you love so much Chris It's a cheap and nasty electronic gauge one. Just using it to give me an indication, rather than for accurate readings. I have an AEM one to wire directly into the ECU so that it can monitor things properly for me
Scott
Went out and fired her up there. Read 100psi after a few minutes idling (Just read "HI" before that) then slowly dropped to 30psi. Temp was around 70 degrees when I switched off. Looking good
Luxluc
Sorry to reply only today. The Supra is still hybernating. I did take it for a little drive as I gave it a good wash with polish and wax before the good weather will start. I have 6 bar oil pressure on dead cold engine mate at idle. Luxluc
When driving the car easily to warm it up, oil pressure goes up to 7 bar at 3000rpm on cold engine. When warmed up, it stays between 3 bar and 6 bar depending the revs.
Scott
3 bar is quite high for a hot idle.

Cheers, yea mine is tucked away as well . I am pretty sure mine is still reading wrong I might re-do the wiring to the sensor as there is allot of noise on that sensor even with using the syvecs filter on it . On the toucan I see 7-8bar cold and 3.5bar warm idle. I am not to worried though as my test in the earlier post with a standalone gauge showed 90psi from cold which is 6bar which seems spot on then .I have borrowed a proper oil pressure testing kit it just looks like a leak down tester with oil fittings. I will run that along side the syvecs sensor and probably recalibrate the sensor voltage so it reads the same.
