Throttle stop?

Recommended Posts

Yet another dumb newb question I'm afraid guys :)

What's that thing under the accelerator pedal for? It looks like a stop but if I press with my hand it clicks like a button or switch of some sort.

My throttle cable's adjustment means that the pedal never actually reaches this stop/button/switch, is it supposed to?

If you have an Auto, I am guessing it may be your 'kick-down' switch you are reffering too.

Ah yes I forgot to mention that mine is an auto.

iGuess I'd better get out there and adjust that throttle cable then!

Thanks mate.

Have you tried pushing your foot to the floor a little harder, it won't break.

The throttle is already fully open before the pedal reaches the button/switch thing. I don't want to snap the throttle cable

The switch only operates at WOT, it does not alter the throttle setting it switches the gear box into lower gears to give instant torque.

It does require quite a bit more force than normal throttle pressure. I have never heard of an auto not being able to use kickdown due to a tight cable. Carpet under the peddle, thats another matter.

I just looked, you're right it does work if pushed *really* hard.

Thanks
