Geo
So im now looking at cleaning my Pistons before i replace the pistons rings, am i right in saying that i can use Brake Cleaner, and i've got Gunk Engine Degreaser, and an Wire brush to give it a good scrub. I was going to soak each piston in Gunk for a good few hours(might need longer) to try and break up the carbon deposits. Jut wondering how you guys went about cleaning your pistons? Thanks
fastcar
I would say parts cleaner with proper substance. You can pick them up from flee bay for about £50.
Mk4Gaz
I used a brass wire brush and petrol when I rebuilt my mr2 engine, and used and old ring to scrape out the ring ridges.
