Geo
My block is with the Engine builders just now, and there dropping it, into there cleaning tank to get it all freshened up. Once i have it back whats the procedure to getting it painted. 1. light rub to get any small inperfections out. 2. treat with some sort of rust chemical or sealant 3. paint with high temp Enamal paint 4. rub Oil into the cyclinder walls to prevent from rusting? Obviously masking it up, and plugging holes etc
SupraP-Z
Good thread, ill be doing this in the near future. Had a look at your build thread, should be a beast once completed
FOSTA
I'd imagen the builders would coat your bores to protect them. I just used Hammerite direct to metal paint mate. It worked a charm

Rob_Mitchell
Depends how serious you want the block to look George. if your after a really decent finish the give it a decent rub down and then prime the block before painting... not sure what the procedue is with proper engine enamel as i think that could just go straight on after a quick rub down... we usually just prime and paint ours. the bores should come back protected but i recommend cutting a piece of card and lay it across the top of the block to prevent any dirt or paint getting down the bores when your painting and rubbing down. the better the prep work the better the finish. simple mate
