Swampy442
The car is a Toyota Crown, 1JZ GE powered with a normal 340 series auto trans. The symptoms are, when cold the box operates as normal, everything operates smoothly with absolutely no issues. When warm, as you coast to slow down there seems to be a significant amount of engine braking, and the box doesn't like changing down gears, so much so that as you get towards low revs/idle the car starts to judder then it will drop a gear. Upshifts are fine, o/d works as normal, all gears can be selected manually. Ive changed the fluid, theres no oil cooler. Has anybody got any ideas? Speed sensor maybe? Seems odd that it works fine when cold.

mellonman
Im pritty sure it does dude , could be an electrical issue with the lock up signal or the actual torque coverter its self , check the elctrical signals first ( as its free to check ) then see if the lock up is working or you can make it lock up manually
Swampy442
Nice one, thanks. Im planning to drop the sump this weekend anyway, check the filter, drop the valve body and test the solenoids.
jagman
The lock up is also controlled as a function of water temp sensor
