Scott
awesome work, you said it's had a 2JZ transplant? What did it have before this? My guess is it was a GE rather than a GTE previously (SZ). Just a freudian slip

jaw
awesome work, you said it's had a 2JZ transplant? What did it have before this? Wow. Great work there mate. Cheers guys, happy with how it's coming along so far My guess is it was a GE rather than a GTE previously (SZ). Just a freudian slip hehe was once upon a time - it was an SZ-R (GE), then had a GTE transplant but with the W58 retained - probably as the prices out here for v160's out here is no joke
jaw
a bit more progress - sump and bottom half of the block off. Need to pick up a new torx set since a mate nicked mine - so will have the rods and pistons out over the next few days and hopefully find the spun bearing out of interest.. amazing how quickly things come apart/together if you throw a solid hour or two https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10649617_10152376963026829_6007235877591251191_n.jpg?oh=7a13c82d59e2fd910b30f82048f257bc&oe=551F67EB&__gda__=1427470333_c0b6af8debc0a106ba0cf21fe033805f https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10426794_10152376963226829_2813449613299053963_n.jpg?oh=0129a8f43c948481c4aa1fb54c4cb03f&oe=54D76507&__gda__=1427342200_7a390e31fbbad62c6d42cb2b30b601a1 https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10801510_10152376963611829_8887952236379138341_n.jpg?oh=090403d96a70fe143a18944cc320d7be&oe=550E5BB0 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10357445_10152376963686829_6737923729613318720_n.jpg?oh=84e93b22d3d87b11cb50911c29889900&oe=550B2E71&__gda__=1426664348_e36a2d16aa0711d4ed2325658fa43e41

Love a good rebuild! haha much the same this side mate, sure you can get engineer's reports etc but it's an effort. I'll generally only use it to the track and back - worst comes to worse I'll probably keep it off road and get a trailer but would rather have it road registered. The road laws here do my head in sometimes!

Bar the fuel pump and one of the mounts, because I got lazy Had the brainstorm to potentially respray or wrap the beast next, not sure which way to go - was thinking metallic candy red if wrapped - the sort of colour of my rear strut above. Not sure how it'd look on a relatively standard bodied supra, but not sure I want to go to the effort of a widebody.. Although it's something I haven't tried before so would be fun to give it a shot... hmm..... In other news, gearbox sold, steering wheel and headlights about to sell as well as the exhaust and wheels which will all mean that the supra will only owe me about $2000 by next week - sweet! jaw
so have been totting up bits I've weighed or replaced below. forgive the formatting, just copied and pasted from an excel file. removed not yet removed replaced OEM Driver's seat 24kg -24 5.8 Passenger's seat 15 kg -15 5.8 Rear seats, seatbelts, bolts etc 16kg -16 Door cards 6kg (included aftermarket speakers) -6 Minidisc player 3kg -3 spare wheel 18kg -18 speakers 4kg -4 Wheels -46 32 exhaust -30 15 bonnet -12 aircon pump, fan, exchanger -14 Steering wheel -3.5 battery -15 5 rear wiper and motor -3 front brakes -31 20 heater matrix -11.5 I want to keep a level of comfort for now, headliners, doorcards, the dash. if I scrap the road registration I might go to the extent of ripping them out. I've probably added a few more things already that aren't totted up too, the dash covering for example, harnesses, things that should amount to the odd kilo here or there but then there are a million bolts and bits of wire and plastic that I haven't added up that have come out too. All up I'm coming up with a 168 kilo saving but some of the replacement parts aren't here so weights guessed at. It will be interesting to see what wait savings or gains I make in the engine dept as far as forged internals and the single turbo go. Thinking of looking into plastic windows and carbon panels too but will see what the benefit will be first.. Saving at present: -168.4kg

jaw
so, been a while! House move, visas, new job all took priority but back to work. New garage is much bigger which is awesome. I've decided that I"m going to buy a shortblock built by whifbitz or titan - simply struggling tfor time so it means I can get it in and sling it in on one of my weeks off rather than having to assemble it while rushing. For the time being, time to try out a few colours https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11169248_10152668719266829_1321706831480962352_n.jpg?oh=1ae740a51b51f605eb673d24a65ae151&oe=55DEAAF9 https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/10690009_10152668719351829_5520120524896510780_n.jpg?oh=e7ff7e75a2ac83af11fe920686936b69&oe=55DAF9C5 my hard working assistant https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/11138531_10152668719086829_879525385057798976_n.jpg?oh=c49044cbcfc876e07f83b53c8218f45e&oe=55E0E051 first coat https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/10944836_10152668944361829_7381024307031883996_n.jpg?oh=d7717296f724909a431ada9355e64ad0&oe=55D8BF6B&__gda__=1436927074_17492a7bb834af9924a65bc8135f52e2 and a few more coats. I decided to plastidip the car for now so I can see how the colour sits with me. I was thinking of going the metallic bronze-red of the newer clios, but I remembered a ''blurple'' edit: the colour was ''royal sapphire blue'' vvti supra years ago that a mate showed me, that I was in no position to buy being 20ish.. Couldn't help but try it out as I remember falling for the colour straight away, and am real pleased. Hung between leaving it dipped for some time, or stripping it down and and painting it now while the motor is out. It'l be a track machine so 'functional' rather than pretty will do for now but I do Like the idea of dressing up the garage and giving it a full DIY sand down, prep and spray that said so will give it a think! wheels - I think some white Rays Zeldas might look good and am thinking of going for these but aren't sure.. Plus not sure if they'll be big enough for the brakes I want and for laying down the power.. 18x8 / 18x9's. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/19607_10152669010451829_7983148187436275937_n.jpg?oh=7943fea1721e92968f3004310c661b80&oe=55A50BA2&__gda__=1437296483_35490915988ac4a27b83e13977a1539c Edited April 17, 2015 by jaw (see edit history)
