jonc Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Hi All As some know I have taken the car (1998 Facelift VVTI TT tiptronic) off the road to do a load of work :- Valve stem seals fit overhauled steering rack BPU Vacuum piping respray bonnet Fit new brake master cylinder Fit Moman plasma gauges Amongst other smaller jobs which I have wanted to do for a while. Whilst stripping off around the front end of the engine I was about to take the alternator off and noticed a vacuum hose hanging. Once I investigated I found it had come off VSV No1 (Part number 90910 12127)unfortunately the pipe had not slipped off but the plastic had become brittle and snapped off at some point . The car was running fine before I took it off the road a couple of months ago so obviously been lucky. I am now tracing all the vacuum hoses but I have a couple of queries which hopefully the Supra Gurus can answer :- 1. This VSV has an adjuster on it (Well it looks like it:blink:) how do I know the correct setting when I get the replacement? 2. Do these VSV's differ for different Twin turbos? Ie can I get one from say Keron or should I just go straight to Mr T (I presume the plastic will become brittle on most of these after a while)/ 3. My VSV has the part number 90910-121127B but in the parts number catalogue the B is not listed. Will this make a difference? All VSVs will be the same from any 2JZ-GTE (Supra TT) engine however they are worth replacing as the heat from the engine kills them over time and the electrical contacts inside break up. 3. No, that will be the correct part number Out of interest, do you have a boost controller fitted? I'm only asking as this makes one of the VSV's redundant so that could be why your car was still running fine previously. Edit - afaik there are 4 different VSVs that operate the sequential system. Brilliant cheers No I am not running a boost controller so either I was really lucky and it broke over the past couple of months whilst the car was parked in my garage (car has been moved up and down the drive a few times if i needed the garage space) or it might have broken on the last journey I did back from work and I didn't notice it.
