Chris Wilson
16 threads per inch. It denotes the pitch of the thread.

Chris Wilson
Can you describe exactly what it is you are wanting to do? Is it to remove the Modine? And then what, fit a remote filter adaptor? If so you may need a custom adaptor.
jza800
am gonna remove the stock oil cooler, and fit a aftermarked oil cooler kit with the 80c termostat... so i need that 3/4-16 thread to fit on the engine, so i can fit my sandwitch plate from the oil cooler kit on the engine.. Chris Wilson
I'll look on a block tomorrow for you, I can't remember what's under the Modine. E-mail me to remind me!
Digsy
The standard thread isn't imperial, surely?
Dnk
3/4 - 16 is a UNF Thread and universal oil filter thread size
Digsy
Pretty sure the last one I specced was M20 x something. Maybe 1.5? Will check the drawing tomorrow. Don't really care, just surprised, that's all! :-)
Dnk
I've no idea what the mk4 is on the oil filter but 3/4 UNF has a 0.0625" pitch which is just over 1.5 mm pitch and just over 19mm o/d
Chris Wilson
Imperial filter threads are still common on foreign cars, but they seem to be slowly swinging over to metric. I can't recall what the thread in the block itself is though.
