98HT
Brazil, probably the best place to ask in the supra community: http://www.theboostlab.com/ Ask for Kirk.
Chris Wilson
I am EXTREMELY reluctant to fit rebuilt turbos, even new ones are a nightmare as most sellers, Garrett GT series included, do not warrant them for none stock usage. I have had some costly dramas with rebuilt units. I now only fit turbos from registered Garrett, KKK, or other dealers, there are SO many fakes on Ebay. Chris, isn't the TO4Z a ball bearing tirbo? If it is there should be almost zero radial or axial play in the shaft. If you send it to a turbo rebuilder I can almost guarantee they tell you it's knackered. In 25 years I have never had one come back with a report saying "it's fine" One day I'll make a new one oily and send that in and see what happens Likewise I have never had a rebuilt turbo fail and it be bad machining, bad assembly, bad balancing, whatever. It's *ALWAYS* end user error, dirty oil, over boosting, blah blah. If a rebuilt unit fails it's not worth the carriage to send it back IMHO. Bitter? Me? How muche does it cost to rebuild? SRD sells them, I'd upgrade to a gen2 precision if you are buying new though.
