Guest andy thomas
Hi everyone, i have a t20 turbo laying around from a 200sx and was wondering, if i did want to go ahead with a na-t conversation would it be worth using that turbo, how much hp will i make off 11psi with an air intake system, what are common issuses, will my gear box withstand the power and is a turbo kit a better option or is buying a stock twin turbo supra in about a years time a better idea. Thanks in advance will be checking this thread daily and sorry if most of these questions have been asked before.
mellonman
Surely to get it to fit would cause for alot of fabrication to fit an old tec turbo, Also what gearbox do you have? I would get a decent kit thats known to fit and proven numbers , this would save you alot of problems later
Si_s Supe
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the T20 a tiny turbo from the CA18-DET?? Commonly upgraded to the bigger T25 from the SR20-DET. Both stock turbos from 1800/2000 4 pots. Can't imagine they'd be very impressive bolted up to a 3000 6 pot bud. As said above, I'd save your money and time and use a decent kit if you'd like to take that route.
Tricky-Ricky
Pointless! it would all be over by 3-4K RPM and then it would be out of its efficiency range and just pumping in overheated air.
Guest andy thomas
yeah my bad got confused its a T25 and decided that due to fabrication and kms on that turbo that it would just be way easier to buy a kit from suprastore.com
Tricky-Ricky
Anything smaller than a GT35 is a bit of a waste on a 3l engine...unless its a diesel.
Chris Bailey
T61 is ideal for NA-T
jumpbike
just for reference as im a 200sx owner, T25 or T2 is the flange type, standard size, 1 smaller than a T3. CA18's came with GT25 garrets and the SR20's came with GT28. The 28 can do up to about 300hp on the 2 litre but I think on a 3 litre it will just cause a restriction and probably end up with boost creep at higher RPM. Would spool instantly though! Pipedreams
It's the opposite actually. At high rpms the compressor can't keep up with the flow demand of the engine so it won't be able to hold boost. An n/a-t 2jz would need ~5psi to reach 300hp and if that is the hp-limit of the compressor, that's the boost it can hold.
