rossky
Just received delivery of an exhaust bung from ebay (i know) but to me its strange to see the back end closed in! I know these are not ideal, but when I fit the first decat to Complete the BPU I want to keep the car as quiet as possible as its a daily driver. On the GTR Japseed do a nice silenced decat pity one of these cant be got for the supra. Any one fitted one like this? I wonder will it since the exhaust much if I drill out the closed back end? If fitted as is do you think it will cause to much back pressure? Look forward to views
Nic
That'll cause a big restriction and effect performance. If you want a quieter exhaust either swap it or get an additional silencer welded into the mid pipe. TuneR
What exhaust are you running? My 3" TRD rep with just the second cat in went through the NCT (not the high idle emissions though) and there is very little difference in noise with two decats. Sound sporty as it should. Now i have to remove the turbo elbow and replace the stud i broke putting the cat back in for the NCT, yay!

Ive had my fun with exhausts engine grunt is enogh for me as a daily driver. I will do anything to keep in quiet! I want to go full BPU but I know when i take out the 1st cat the car will sound like a group A rally car. My NCT is next month so will fir decat on trial then. Havard
That bung looks like it will cause a massive restriction under load. I expected the pipe in the middle to be open and the small holes to provide extra out flow. It looks as if those small holes are the only outflow....wow..!! H. Scott
It's made a bit wrong to be honest. You could try it, but I would definitely chop the very end of it off so that it's not as restrictive as it would be with it in. Normally the bungs are the same shape with a solid, slim pipe in the centre. It's almost always bigger than the one you have though.
Morzy2k5
I got one of these off eBay when I had my soarer, and tbey sound terrible,as when you come on boost it makes like a compressed air/whooshing noise from the exhaust, and I instantly noticed my response and power was down once is fitted it.and to be honest it didn't even make it that much quieter lol
Chris Wilson
Causing the gasses to change direction, then further break up laminar flow through the holes is what will kil the acoustic energy. Removing the plate on the inner end of the perforated pipe will greatly reduce its silencing ability. Having said that it's a crude and inefficient way to silence. Just buy a Tanabe Medallion Touring system. That thing will send back pressure and EGT's through the roof.
