Dave
ok so my car has been sorned for 2 years now ,so its outside in the drive covered ,so today i thought i would check the front pads and area for any probs prior to getting it mot,d and back on the road ,i noticed a bit of a leak around the sump plug and was going to remove the plug clean it up new washer and new oil ,put the rachet on the plug and the area around the plug cracked so now i have a hole . 2 questions can i have a piece welded on the sump or do i need to replace the sump and can you get it off with lifting or removing the engine . if i didnt have bad luck i wouldnt get any :(:(
Chris Wilson
I would fit a new or good secondhand sump pan, it can be removed with the engine in situ, but it's a bit fiddly getting at all the bolts. Use a good sealant like the original Loctite stuff.
