binfieldx
Hi Guys, Currently have a toyota MR2 but I'm planning to buy my first supra in the new year (10k budget) so looking into the makes and models now but had a few questions What's the best spec around at the moment? I'm hearing single turbo manual? Which year is best to buy and why? What's the difference between the rz-s rz etc models? What should I look out for when viewing them? Scooter
There is a great 'what to look for' guide on here and spec model and differences. Single turbo's are all after market modify ones and whilst I'm not saying don't get one I'd be sure to thoroughly research them to ensure it'll be what you want from a car. Personally the more standard cars have always been plenty fast enough for me and all things being equal the newer the better, but things aren't equal and everyone will say to buy on condition, so I'd advised you to get somewhere where you can see a few just to at least make some initial assessment of what is 'usual' condition or clean to mint etc.
Nic
Start by having a read of these FAQ threads http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/forumdisplay.php?60-Basic-Supra-Guides
Abz
As suggested the guides are very useful, have a look through them and some threads on the forum to gauge an idea. No such thing as "best version" many variations and they all have their merits so does differ with taste.

JackyBoi
Really depends on what you'll be using the car for. Once you've figured that out then you can set to look for one that meets your needs e.g. power, cost, cruising, daily etc
Guigsy
Everyone always wants the big single. If I were to sell my current single six speed I'd go back to a bpu auto. My single has spent more time in the garage being fixed or on my driveway broken waiting to be fixed. My bpu was faultless.

So glad I didn't. I love the sequential set up. I love the autobox.
Dnk
First question to answer is do you really need more the 400 ish hp ? I personally didn't and was very happy with my bpu 400 hp ish set up. I drove a good friends single a few times which had over 650 hp, it felt stupidly quick compared to mine and did get the adrenalin flowing but for road use and in anything other than dry conditions i didn't see the point as it was just a handful to drive, it was interesting in the dry. Unless you're a very good driver which of course everyone is lol i'd say 400 hp is more than enough and will also get you into trouble, just not as easily as 650 or more. David P
Changing from an MR2 to a singled Supra, you could soon be wanting to change your handle to binfieldxx.
