Big Mark
I've got a spare few hours from about 4pm if you need a hand or supervision, lol. I'm curious as to how hard/easy it is to install a piggyback.

girth45
Will do mark. - - - Updated - - - Does anybody else think the issues im having could be my boost controller?
j_jza80
It could definitely be the boost controller. Do you have a 1 bar restrictor ring in the exhaust?
girth45
Yes I have a restrictor ring fitted.
Shane
What boost controller do you have?
girth45
Mine is a pro-i ebc 52 mm guage type mounted in my air intake. Not the best, was on a budget when I bpu the car.
Shane
Mine is a pro-i ebc 52 mm guage type mounted in my air intake. Not the best, was on a budget when I bpu the car. I had the Depo racing version of that before I got the DET3 from Lyndon and although it was basic it worked ok. Maybe the solenoid/valve has started to fail, if you can find a one way valve try using a bike pump to create a pressure up to the controller and see if it holds it or if it drops off. You will need a one way valve in line though
girth45
Ok shane will see what I can find, its only 8 months and about 600 miles old !
girth45
I have read a lot of threads and internet info on the sequential turbo's, trying to diagnose my intermittent boost fault, I am going a bit crazy!!!!!! So any more experienced supra guru's out there who can help , I welcome the advice.
j_jza80
Save yourself hours of frustration, and just take the car to Whifbitz. Paul is very experienced in Diagnosing sequential faults.
girth45
I know that would be the easy option , but I'm in the Midlands!
j_jza80
Whifbitz are in South Wales, that isn't far! You should try living up here, 4 hour drive to Whifbitz London, 6 hours to South Whales, and 6-7 hours to SRD There are plenty of threads on the VSVs, and diagnosing faults, so you'll be best spending a night on the forum search function. Jos
Sorry to hear about your boost problems, I've had a couple myself and for fault finding I myself found it easier to connect a compressor or something else with 1,1 bar to the feed of the vacuum lines. That way you can at least test the sequential valves and solenoids with a 12V source and see how and if they work and if there is a leak in those lines. Hope this makes any sense and helps. For understanding the system, I find the faq here very helpfull, or http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/supra/boosting_the_beast.htm Btw, what happens in TTC? girth45
Hi Jos , will be putting it into TTC tomorrow to see if it helps, if it boosts OK then I guess it is the vcv valves. I have been reading up on the system trying to understand, guess I really need to get vacumn pump and start learning to test! Or take it to wiffbitz, but u hate not being able to fix it myself !!! How about cheering me up band sending pics if the side skirt's you have for me.
Jos
Will do that this weekend, but have been pretty busy with work this week, I need some time to dig them out of the attic and make some decent photos of them:D

girth45
I have run the car in TTC mode this morning, boost was fine, would this then point to vcv valves and the pressure tank being at fault ? As always any help/ advice appreciated.
Chris Wilson
Just test the valves off the car with 12V to them, via a 1 amp fuse. See if the ports open and close as described in the workshop manual. You can also test the tank off the car, but they rarely give trouble.
