scottybennoch
ive seen a supra for sale with a garage from whitley bay and ive done a history and milage check and the history chevk has come back fine. however they are saying its done 87000 miles and on the millage it says 103000 2 years ago. and then this year 675000 or aomthing which has to be wrong surly?? also could the 103000 miles on the millage check be in km still?? thanks
listy
103000km is roughly 64500 miles, so they have probably converted the figure. However, a lot of cars are changed so the odo reads miles rather than km on import, so mileage is probably higher than stated anyway. st3ven1
It's now reported that 1 in 20 cars in the UK have had mileage "corrected"(clocked essentially). This figure is significantly higher in imports, I'd put it at over 90% of imports(this would certainly be true for supras). Go in with your eyes open, the old trick of proclaiming miles are km is often sighted as well. Check engine bay, pedals, steering wheel, gear knob/selector, handbrake, dash and seats. If these are worn it's a good indicator that it's done more than its indicated mileage. Also don't base your decision on mileage, go by condition & oem parts replaced. Dnk
Read my sig My car has been adjusted from 137,000 miles and now reads in km but only 139,000 Unless the odo reading is backed up with history ie mots, service schedule, dates on invoices etc etc assume the worst and take it from there Edited September 3, 2014 by Dnk (see edit history)
