gordy.r
Ok, so I've read a few threads on here and followed a link to 'how to' page about changing the cam gears etc. Basically my questions are: 1. Is it worth buying adjustable cam gears? 2. I believe there are small gains (circa 10bhp) on the exhaust side, but are there any downsides to doing this? 3. If I'm doing the cam gears and belt, what else should I be getting done at the same time? Disclaimer: I will not being doing this job myself, as I am about as competent with a socket set as the first chimp in space was with using his onboard lavatory ( and I'm really lazy). Tricky-Ricky
I wouldn't bother if your just std TT mode, but worth doing if you have a big single.
Ian C
Adjustable cam gears don't 'gain' power, they move the power band around. If you gain 10bhp up top you'll lose that or more down below, and where in the rev range do you really spend most of your time? I found the best use for them was to reduce overlap on aftermarket cams and therefore restore a nice idle.
