mull1986
Morning peeps, what's the best way to disconnect the two white overdrive wires from the auto shifter handle? Many thanks Gary
Shane
Just done this on the missuses car and I snipped them at the plug/socket end leaving enough to solder them back and used heatshrink to insulate.
mull1986
Nice one Shane. Top man Another question, if I was to buy another shifter handle, would the wires come with it so I could cut and solder the new to the original wires once cut? Shane
Nice one Shane. Top man Another question, if I was to buy another shifter handle, would the wires come with it so I could cut and solder the new to the original wires once cut? I don't know if the ones that come through Toyota are the complete thing, I sort of think they are not and seem to think Nic may have posted an exploded view of the bits you need on here some time ago. We bought hers from ebay and it was a complete shifter assembly but I only wanted to change the leather bit and od button. The only way I could see to do it easily was to chop the wires so that's what I did. Her original had a knackered OD button on it, but the leather was OK, I have the old leather bit to go on mine sometime now as even the worse one from the two she ended up with is much better than mine, just not got round to it so far. David P
It's fiddly yet easily doable to swap the shifter knob without butchering wires.

Shane
It's fiddly yet easily doable to swap the shifter knob without butchering wires. I couldnt see how to do that, if I was going to just replace the leather clad bit on its own then yes, but had to change the OD button too on hers. I figured there must be a way as I am sure Mr T didnt fit the plug on the 2 wires after it had all been assembled, but took the easy (lazy) way out and carefully cut the 2 wires, slid the whole lot off the shaft, fed the wires back down and soldered and heat shrank. easy. I saved the butchering for your car https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=bNPxM_SydlMeAM&tbnid=9oBfWtGA042q1M:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.clublexus.com%2Fforums%2Fbuild-threads%2F573883-single-turbo-is300-build.html&ei=KrkFVLTNAuTH7AaJ34GQCA&bvm=bv.74115972,d.ZGU&psig=AFQjCNGnjm9P24LwX1gIXOrQREAtv6pc-Q&ust=1409747621802272
