Is this a fuel cut defender in the pic? (fcd)

Hi all,

I am aiming towards getting my tt6 bpu'd soon. So tonight I fitted a boost gauge an boost contoller, with the view of adding a second decat and fcd. When running the pipes and cables i noticed this black box which also appears to be connected to the correct black yellow signal cable.

Has anyone ever seen an fcd like this??? Its just a black box with no labels or anything on it.

You will see in one pic I opened the cover to reveal a load of silicone and just the tip of a capacitor.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Looks like a KMH to MPH converter..

Ah that would make sence. Just didnt want to buy an fcd if one was already fitted. Im nearly sure though its connected to the right cable for the fcd on a vvti from what i have read on here.

I have never seen an electronic speed converter so possibly.

Any other confirmations woul be appreciated.

thanks,

Ross

Tell us what pins the four wires go to on the ecu plugs.

Hi Chris,

Really appreciate your input, have you ever seen an FCD like the one in the pics? The unit has 4 wires without pulling at the blocks which have tape and connection so dont want to be rumaging around to much heres what I could make out.

First cable yellow is coonected to pin75 pin 9 Map sensor black yellow which appears to be linked linked with black white b75 pin 16 gnd.

Second cable red is connected to b75 pin 17 black cable ecu gnd.

Third cable black b78 pin 16 switched battery power.

Unsure where the green cable go's but looking at the at the connections its appears it would be a FCD?

Are all MPH converters also tied into the ECu directly? would there be much more wiring?

The car is Japanese and does run in MPH as it did spend some time in the UK.

Look forward to your input.

Ross
