Kilps
Having recently become closely acquainted with a kerb, I now need to get two of my wheels refurbished. I have Volks GTUs with polished dishes. I've heard that Volks polished chrome rims use some sort of special lacquer which is difficult to replicate. Is this true? If so, where can I get them refurbed? Can Ibrar do it? --------------- On a separate note, currently the centres are gloss black. I quite like them like this, but I'm open to other suggestions and now seems as good a time as any to get the colour changed. Any suggestions? j_jza80
How about bright silver? The black hides the really nice design of these wheels imo.
johnny g
I'd have them done in a smoked grey colour, just to lift it a little. Ibrar does some nice colours.

I think he just wants to sort the lips out on the two he's kerbed if i'm reading it right. To do it properly i think you'll need to have the wheels taken apart, it might be hard to match the two that need refurbing to the two not getting done, i'd be doing all four personally. Give Ibrar a call is the best way to know exactly what he can do Edited August 28, 2014 by Dnk (see edit history)

Give Ibrar a call is the best way to know exactly what he can do Sorry I was a bit unclear. It's only the lips that NEED doing, but whilst they're being done, now is as good a time as any to have the centre refurbed with a possible colour change too. Yeah that's a good point with matching the other two. I would probably get all four done anyway.

I had thought of smoked grey though. This sort of thing perhaps, but without the red edging... and the Impreza.

jim
Your car looks amazing Kilps Agree with bright silver, Jake (a NI member on here) has a titan orange supra and had black rims with polished lip when it was first painted - the car looked well then, but he's since changed the wheels and the car's simply stunning now, changing the wheels has transformed it. Graham1984
The car looks great. Just think at one point (iirc) Klips had the world famous strap on indicator mods Edited August 28, 2014 by Graham1984 (see edit history)
Jellybean
I got my Rays Volk GTC wheels done this year , just the barrels (lips) ; Volk have a lacquer on the polished lip, to get them refurbed they remove the lacquer and can re-apply but I was advised against it as the Lacquer can have a sort life span and start to peal or pit . I have no lacquer on them now , I was concerned with water marks if the car was left sitting after rain ( just unrealisitc to dry them everytime you park up). So far so good , I would just recommend you wax (Autoglym HD -- hard wearing) them every 1-2 months, dont use the gtechniq c5 wheel armour, if anything it took the shine out of mine. To save a few $$ , I dismantled the wheel myself and just handed off the barrels as the center spokes did not need any attention. I got mine done in Ireland so no use to you but you get the idea. Maybe also a taught is to get the inside barrel polished too (behind the wheel spoke), easier to keep clean https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.600129850074512.1073741830.119947121426123&type=3 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/970812_606443599443137_656250096_n.jpg?oh=e5fbb6af8fe13944ce2620fe17cbed96&oe=54734B50&__gda__=1415408962_d919686510172ed16e1a711bcab98aa1 https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t1.0-9/p180x540/10006207_606443716109792_1500675709_n.jpg

I like mine as they are, which suggests they should be left alone, but I do quite fancy them in grey. We'll see...
