johnd-mkiv
Hello im grafting a supra r154 gearbox onto a small block chevy for my cobra project ive made the bell housing adaptor got to the final stages and now found the oem friction disk springs foul on the flywheel bolts Ideally I want a friction disk that's flat on one side to give me the clearance on the bolts, the only thing I can find is a paddle type clutch which im not really keen on, any one have anything laying about or know of a make of disk that will resolve my problem?? I cant machine the flywheel as theres not a lot of meat on it, I could countersink and install alen bolts but not sure if this is a wise move any help be greatly appreciated thanks
Guest FullAttack
Don't compromise the flywheel bolts.. You could use an unsprung disc which wouldn't foul, but not that nice to use on a daily. I use ACT clutches usually, I think even the sprung discs are flat on one side.. I'll check later if I remember;)
johnd-mkiv
I'm fairly sure my old act clutch was all on one side but googling pictures I can't find Any with both sides
Chris Wilson
Photos of flywheel, bolts shown, and disc would help

Chris Wilson
As it's symmetrical reversing it won't help, and I wouldn't be too keen on countersunk Allen bolts without a dowel between each bolt. You could spot face under each bolt head and run them shallower, but a small block is a torquey lump and the flywheel looks cast.... a bit iffy! I would contact Helix Clutches and see if they have a plate, or can build you one: http://www.helix-autosport.com/home-page/

garethr
The Aussies seem to like Toyota boxes for their V8s (although I don't know Holdens if are the same as SBCs), so it might be worth looking round some Australian sites.
