Really looking forward to following the single turbo developments.

The turbo kit is superb!

Where did you manage to pick up a turbo less HKS T04Z kit new?

If I ever had to replace my factory oem twins, a kit like this would be on my wish list.

The cruise control is another awesome idea.

11003-AT001ZZ HKS Setup Kit

HKS have been supplying the kits new without the turbo for a while now, it was me who originally persuaded them to sell me the turboless kits when I use to be trading :)

Cheers :)

Well, I noticed that the forum trader Partbox was doing a great deal on all HKS products, which knocked £600 off the price of it. Just as I was about to buy it, I got a PM from Rob W on here saying he had a brand new one he'd sell too. I was going to go with a cast manifold, but it was too good a deal to pass up, plus the car will sound nicer :)

The car has pretty much all the creature comforts I want, Cruise will just finish it off. :)

Just a minor one today :)

My heated seats haven't worked since I fitted them, and after some testing this morning I've found that the switch seems to be broken. The buttons illuminate, and the power, ground etc on the loom work, but when the buttons are pressed the LEDs don't light up, and there's no power on the seat outputs. So hopefully, another switch will have them working.

Ad part of my testing, I jury rigged the seat heaters to work, and they are really great. :D

I have also given my facelift dash a facelift :conf:

Looks much better. :)

The only problem is, now the indicator stalks look worn next to the nice new buttons :D but I expect they are mega money new. Also, at some point I'm going to get the steering wheel re-trimmed, and the gear knob and gaiters to match.

And then there's the dash panels. I'm starting to think they want refreshing, but I'm undecided as to what to do. Definitely won't be gloss paint or carbon effect, so far I'm thinking either satin hydrodipped, or grey suede to match the centres of my Recaros.

Any thoughts or opinions on it would be appreciated :)

I think I've caught whatever ocd illness Inferno had :D

Great mod with the new buttons, One of the best things I did to my Na was fit new OEM buttons. Really freshens the interior up!

In regards to the dash I would refurb to OEM look. It sounds crude but get them profesionally prepped, or take your time and do it yourself. And use Halfords Own brand Matt black rattle can, it honestly is a nie on perfect match for the Prefacelift colour. It sounds crude but it works and is long lasting. Mine has been done for 4+years and still looks like new. Somthing I will be doing on the new car for sure!

Edit just noticed yours is a facelift, maybe go to somewhere and get them to scan the dash pannel then mix the coulour.

Thanks :)

My panels are in really good condition, I just figure that they would look more modern in a different colour.

The facelift panels are a green/grey colour. I'm thinking a satin or matt metallic graphite would tie in with the seat colour and look a little better :)

Same, I want to repair a hole in my gearstick surround (immobilizer key thing) and repaint. I'm thinking a dark anthracite colour like Ford Graphite Grey, maybe even darker. The greeny-gunmetal is neat but I think something more greyscale than green will freshen it up but look OE. I don't like the bright silver look, I don't think it suits the Supra

  • 3 weeks later...

So, work is progressing towards the single install. I just received a couple of bits from Whifbitz this last week, namely;

my Syvecs cal switches

and the billet throttle adapter.

image

The throttle adapter is a very well finished  Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the VVTi plenum. :D Neither Paul or I had any idea that the bolt spacings for fitting the throttle body are different between VVTi and non VVTi, so I've had to order a non VVTi plenum. Once the plenum turns up, I'm going to get them both powdercoated.

As for the Cal switches, I'm wanting to achieve a near factory finish if possible, and I've just odered the components today to make a switch panel up. It is going to replace the DIN pocket underneath my radio, and I've got a few ideas to really give it that OEM+ look and feel I'm aiming for with this car. This should give you a rough idea of what I'm aiming for:

image

I'm torn as to whether I want the additional expense of a Toucan display, as TBH they always look like a bit of an afterthought. My other options are the Syvecs bluetooth module, or just go sans any gauges etc, though I'm not sure if that is sensible.

Loving how this is coming along, pretty much everything you're doing is along the lines of what I'm hoping to do :)

Another OEM-look idea I thought about was getting 3 active spoiler switches and fitting them to the slots where each one usually goes, rubbing the letters off them and try have one for TC On/Off, Launch On/Off and maybe Boost Hi/Lo. Or any other ones I can think of. You've got the Syvecs switches I guess but was just something I thought of. Wiring to the ECU would hopefully be straightforward

Thanks

Way ahead of you :D

I already have an active spoiler, and heated seats, so those switches need to stay. The current TRAC 'SNOW' and 'OFF' buttons will be redundant, so I'm currently working with another forum member to modify the stock buttons for use with Cruise control and a heated windscreen  Unfortunately, I can't have launch control due to the tiptonic gearbox, but there will be a rolling antilag map on the Syvecs.

:D

I was also thinking about using it for a foglight, but I'm pretty tempted by Whifbitz heated windscreen. My current rear fog switch is hidden behind a panel, because I refuse to drill my dash for an aftermarket switch :D Do you know if it is okay to wire in the rear fog so that it comes on with the fronts? Or do they have to be independent of each other?

Interesting thought. I always presumed they had to be independent but I'm not sure if there is an actual rule governing that. Benjy could probably shed some light :)

And as the import garage already wired a switch in, it would only take me 10 mins to hook it up to a relay :)

Another job to add to the incredibly long list :D

It's a good thought though, I'm thinking I'll look into the same :D

I'm surprised it's not the norm now that I think of it. I can only imagine there must be a reason why it isn't.

I might mount a single red LED behind the factory brake light failure warning light, so that it illuminates when the fogs are on. Will that do? :)

It doesn't state what the warning needs to look like, so the one for the fronts should suffice.
