generally accepted that the non vvti's are non interference.....also a cambelt break is very very rare, so if its due then plan to get it done but really don't fret/panic over it especially if you've inspected it via the top belt cover.

Correct. But the tensioner tends to break.

I'd just change it, far less hassle than having to get recovered from the side of the road and could be dangerous

depending when it broke as far as other cars etc are concerned.

 

Losing the engine on the motorway is not fun, been there and done that
