Guest jimmyrs
hi everyone - yet more problems with my supra.. i have only just flushed the coolant and replaced the stat after it started to get a bit hot one day when i got home (just under red), having done that i started the car up, bled the system (parked it on an incline, rad cap off, funneled in some coolant and squeezed the intake to the rad and other cooling hoses to remove the air). now, having done this the car was fine, not leaking and i took it for a spin round the block and sure enough started to overheat slowly again. however this time theres been coolant pissing out of what look like the lower bolt hole on the water pump? ive read that this means the seal in the pump is f*cked and its letting the water getting past drain out? can anyone shed more light on this? seems odd for it to go just as i replace the stat.. but it doesnt appear to be leaking from anywhere else, just there... time for a new pump? anything else i should look out for? and also where can i source one of these? most of the ones on ebay state they're for TT's only... mines an NA5 import.. thanks guys! Dnk
try http://www.tcbparts.co.uk or even your local Toyota dealer but ask for as much discount as possible. Or call Steve Manley on 01865 291333, he's at Inchcape Toyota in Oxford so could post you one perhaps. What temp stat did you fit ? Guest jimmyrs
Thanks ill have a look on there, worth changing the cambelt while im there too i read? got the stat from Andrew Page (used to be camberly auto factors) as they're good guys, and its a near identical to what i took out, it stated for a lexus - but also for a 2jz-ge so its all good fitted with no issues. Dnk
Yes if its not been done and it might be worth looking at the crank pulley too, these have a habit of failing now they're getting old as the rubber section degrades and they split apart, don't fit a billet type one though, it must be o/e or very similar as its a harmonic balancer for the crank
