simbasupra
Hi guys Currently rebuilding my engine. Got round to looking at the cylinder head, removed the valves and have noticed there are no valve spring seats installed! Would there be any reason someone would not reinstall these? uprated springs? If not, how would this have effected things? Thanks
simbasupra
Should have gone to specsavers! Didn't realise they are an aluminium colour and are in there very tight so will need a magnet to get them out. It just looked like the cylinder head. Chris Wilson
They can be hard to differentiate from the head casting itself. They serve two purposes, one, being hardened steel, they stop the valve springs eroding the head material, and two they aid valve rotation to give even seat wear.
