mellonman
Hate to say it but 2 units failing is very uncommon, I would surgest checking your wiring continuity,

mellonman
Well I'll be , I didnt say it doesnt happen but very uncommon, you done the right thing getting a spark to look at it, could have be earthing out and bringing it down

Shane
when I picked the car up the mechanic said all was ok but the lights were still on on the dash , he checked it was charging Glad you got it sorted out finally, and long may this one continue to work. But, why would your car mechanic let it come back to you with the light on? I would question that it was charging at all if the light was on. It seems to have been bit of an ordeal. Got to agree did they fit a new one or just charge the battery,
peter richards
yes I gave him the new one as he took my old one out the day before but it needed a new rectifier , I asked him the exact same question when he told me the lights were still on and he said it was charging , only then a day later it wasn't , so the fella that supplied the new one ordered another and fitted it today
