Argyle dan
I need some advice, I have a V161 getrag that's making some funky noises. I'm running a stock flywheel and clutch. The problem is that when I change gear and then put load into the box it's making a cluncking, whining with severe backlash. The gear change itself is smooth, the flywheel and clutch are working fine, but as soon as you apply power/load you start to hear the noises. I've had the car on a ramp and disconnected the propshaft and the noises are still there. http:/youtu.be/gvbd1SGh45c I do apologise for the quality of the video, but you can hear the noises. If any one knows the cause of this and if it's fixable let us know. Cheers
David P
Maybe the dual mass flywheel is coming apart? (Video not working)

keron
do it still make the noise if the clutch pedal is pressed all the way down?
Argyle dan
There's a little bit of noise when clutch is fully depressed but it is more when clutch is released and load is put into the box. That's when you hear the clunking etc.
Neumann
I have the same issue in my car. V160. I belive it to be a bad flywheel after inspection. If Everything is going to plan i Will install a New flywheel on saturday 23 August. I will get back to you if that solves it.

MRX
I think I may have a problem with my flywheel, what involved in getting it out for inspection and what am i looking for? Is it possible to do the drive? Cheers
Argyle dan
Gearbox needs to be removed for proper inspection, I would suggest finding someone with a garage with a 2 post lift or a inspection pit so much easier than trying to do it on a driveway. Also these boxes are bloody heavy.
