The Raven
OK so the sorento has a new party trick. If you allow the fuel to drop to half a 1/4 th of a tank and drive to fast around roundabout or gun it to quick it dies. You have to stop restart and continue. Now i dont know alot about fuel pumps but i guess there is a tube that sits in the bottom of the tank and pulls fuel up? Im thinking this has broken off thus not allowing the whole tank of fuel to be used? Sound about right?
Chris Wilson
Yes, maybe the filter sock has come off, or the swirl pot most tanks have around the pickup has come away, someone will have to get into the tank access hole and pull the gubbins out and look what's happened. Or keep the tank near full...
The Raven
Its worse than that Chris. I looked into the issue and there is a known issue that sees the lining of the fuel tank come away and get sucked up into the filter and if your unlucky enough the rest of the system. Its with Kia now KIA Uk have been paying 1k out to change the tank and bits...............
Chris Wilson
Oh dear, sounds a bit more involved then! Good luck getting it fixed!
The Raven
Shocking it never got a recall. They are beasts when the engine cuts out and you lose power stearing, my local KIA have seen 2 do it before.
