Branners
My car is back from the accident, and Marker Study are apparently going to pay me to buy myself a new wheel to replace the damaged one. I have tracked down a set of Lexus 18s but I'm undecided which I prefer as Ibrar says he can fix my broken volk. What do people think? I do plan on refurbing the lexus alloys back to black with a polished lip..
Steve
See if one of the PhotoShop guru's can change the Lexus rim to what you are wanting to do
Stonkin
I'm prefering the Lexus rim. Looks nice in silver, be good to see them in black also
jamesmark
Lexus for me, those Volks are ghastly.
jim
Lexus here too, are you thinking of black spokes for them, and just the outer edge polished John? Or black background and leaving the entire face silver/polished/diamond cut?

SPG
Will the Borbet's have the centre caps on, once refurbed JB?
nolizma
I would go for the lexus but I dont think I will fancy the black with polished lip look on these wheels. If it was me I would polish all of it, or go for a bronze/gold finish update: I might have time to play around a bit in photoshop if you want. bignum
Pete bought my lexus wheels finished in gunmetal and they look great, i`d imagine he has pictures of them.
Nic
I prefer the Lexus wheels but being one piece wheels I think they'll look odd with black centers and polished lip, if they were mine I'd do them all a metallic graphite gray or perhaps a diamond cut finish. This wheel finish page may give you some inspiration http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/wheel-finishes/standard/ Edited July 31, 2014 by Nic (see edit history)
RichTrdAlsop
The rear look so much better!
mplavery
Volks but paint the lip black too

Chris Wilson
Lexus looks nicer, but of course looks are entirely subjective. They also fit correctly without those dreadful spigot rings, are forged, so won't shatter, and although a bit heavy, they are not as heavy as many aftermarket rims, and UN sprung weight is very important, even on a normal road car, for normal road usage. No sleight to Ibrar, but I would be VERY VERY jittery running a repaired rim on a heavy, fast road car. I suppose a lot depends on the state of the damaged rim, but an undamaged rim is always the safest bet. I take it you have the centre covers for the Lexus rims? Scott
Definitely Lexus. I wouldn't go down the black with a polished lip route though. They look great as they are (especially if you have the centres).
Abz
Lexus vote from me too, although the Volks did look very nice on your car the Lexus wheels look much clean\classy. I'd take Nic's advice and most likely go with a graphite type of finish rather than a black which makes them look 'lost' in the wheel arches. Branners
The attached pictures show the damage to the Volk wheels. I'm sort of with you Chris, it is a risk getting a repair so I will see what people think of this damage. The Volks are amazingly light compared to the Lexus wheels, but the Lexus wheels are the right offset, even with a 285 tyre they dont rub, where the 265 on the Volks meant I had to get the arches rolled. Centre covers are on the rears now and look much better. If somebody wants to play with photoshop on a different colour, an all black and a really thin polished rim that would be interesting to see. Chris Wilson
It should weld up and repair OK, *BUT* pay to have it bead blasted to bare metal and have it dye penetrant crack tested, before and after welding. I can do dye penetrant crack testing in house if Ibrar can't. Also have it checked for run out before you start, if it's bent, bin it. Josh
I vote for Lexus wheels too. They look much better. Gunmetal would look good on them
Ric
Surely Ibrar can fix that alloy for you no problem

Looks fine to (untrained eye) me, seen some people with more kerb rash than that!! My main concern would be to ensure the wheel balanced fine afterwards and is true. AndrewOW
Get those Lexus wheels diamond cut with black inner spokes/rims, and you'll never regret it
