Guest slinky270306
Hi folks I have a TT Auto with Greedy Profec II Boost controller and the standard one on the dash. I took her out after a month of not being used and i have noticed the gauge on the dash seems "lazy" almost. It works and the needle moves but A) it's not as sensitive as it used to be and B) it just wants to fall to bottom which leads me to believe i have a pressure leak through one of the old pipes perhaps. I have also noticed, when i turn the ignition on, the needle moves up slightly and then falls back down when i start the engine. This could be normal i don't know but i havent noticed it doing it before. I run just over a bar boost for a BPU Supra and i have noticed on full chat pre 4000rpm she only boosts to 0.7bar then the second turbo comes in boosting to a little over a 1.04 bar or there abouts. The pick up when she hits 4000rpm is still strong and hard like she used to be but it's just the pick up on the first turbo that seems a little slow. There's no smoke, no puffs out of the exhaust, she ticks over fine, no rattles everything else is normal, purring away quite happily. The only tell tale sign is the lazy standard boost gauge and the fact she just feels a little lazy until she hits 4000rpm when all hell breaks loose again. I am putting the standard airbox back on this Sunday with DodgyRog at Modified Mania and i am also replacing all the breather pipes as mine are all shot anyways. Hopefully he will help with that an all lol The car is well known on the forums, reg B15 SUP so hopefully someone may be able to provide some suggestions on what the cause could be. Nic
The standard boost gauge is useless just ignore it. 0.7bar on the first turbo is normal, and the peak boost will be whatever the boost controller is set to. In this hot whether the car will feel noticeably down on power especially if you have an aftermarket cone filter fitted, refitting the standard airbox should help a little. Guest slinky270306
I will see how it feels after the airbox gets fitted on Sunday. She's not going anywhere as she having some paint work being done but I'll keep an eye on it in that case. Won't hurt to change some of the breather pipes as mine are ridiculously old.
