JDM Wiring vs USDM Wiring - same or different?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a JDM '96 (NA) a couple of weeks ago, and I'm trying to get an alarm installed. My problem is that the wire colour coding seems to be different than expected - any search results I get all point to the same colour wires for the same circuits, but in practise that's not the case - ie in the steering column the solid green wire is allegedly for my parking lights, but it actually controls my horn (fun figuring that out). Needless to say, it's made wiring things like lights and doors nigh impossible when it could be any one of a few dozen different wires. Does anyone have experience with this? Are the jdm models wired differently than the USDM or UK market supras? If so does anyone happen to have a reference file or somewhere I can go to look to figure it out?

'ppreciate any help!

I guess that would make sense. I had assumed that everything was just on the opposite side of the car but otherwise the same.

Do you know if the changes are primarily cosmetic (ie just wire colour) or are there actual meaningful differences? Planning on going big single down the line so I want to know what I'm working with.

They are quite different for whatever reason. For US domestic market cars (not that I go out of my way to work on the things....pushrods and live axles aren't really very exciting), Mitchell's produce the best wiring schematics I have found. Why not fit a basic alarm, I never cease to be amazed how much hackery the average alarm fitting involves, for such frivolities as auto window closure, and auto start. Every Scotchlock and Halford's quality connector is a step nearer an RAC call out :)

I'm not worried about stuff like windows, but I would like to be able to get the lights flashing and the door sensors working (alarm's not very useful if it doesn't go off when the door opens). Power locks would be nice too. The remote start should actually be easier to figure out than the rest, the ignition circuit wires are all in one spot at least.

Any ideas? Someone must have gone through this already, I can't imagine I'm the first guy that has imported a JDM MKIV and tried to put an alarm in it.
