mellonman
After a recent post it dawned on me would the mkiv supra become move of a car icon if toyota had just made all supras TT, Now I know toyota is a business and has to make the most money possible, but what if ? your thoughts people? Coleboy
People always need a "cheaper" model.....not everyone one can afford the top of the line......... How many models of the escort was there, the L to the Ghia...... It runs into every brand out there.......

Kendo11
In 10 years when everyone has gone turbo conversion and I'm the only one with a manual NA left I'll be laughing all the way to the bank! Possibly.
Hassan
But then again look at the nissan R34. You got a GTT model which can be had for less than £10k but a GTR model on the other hand is £25k+. I just think there where far too many supras imported in the uk so the prices stayed low. In the USA supras fetch $25k+

JamieP
They almost are iconic IMHO, a good supra is not cheap anymore, and prices are constantly going up for desirable TT6. But then again look at the nissan R34. You got a GTT model which can be had for less than £10k but a GTR model on the other hand is £25k+. I just think there where far too many supras imported in the uk so the prices stayed low. In the USA supras fetch $25k+ They look completely different though. An NA supra looks identical to a TT supra.
j_jza80
I don't think the prices would have been much different to be honest. But, I think people are really starting to pay attention to manual TT Supras now, and that can only have a positive impact on values. As someone who deals with the car market day-to-day I can promise you Supra values are now on the up, but it will be a slow increase to start with. They're now at the point of being worth hanging onto though. Just be careful with the mods if you want to make some cash.

LasseV
yes in the relms of normal cars But the likes of ferrari , lambos ,morgan , bugatti , zonda , ect and even the R35 , these cars are made to be the best the company can make , And the MKIV was the best and flag ship car at the time Toyota could make .Dont get me wrong i think they are iconic cars but i believe if they had just made TT's they would be pullying amazing prices now maybe because they would be rarer or maybe looked at as a slightly higher standing car I think you are oversimplifying things. 1) N/a Supra is a great traditional sports car with good performance rather than a supercar-level GT like TT is. Performance of the n/a is similar than Porsche 968. And it wasn't cheap. Price difference in U.S market was 4000$ (34t$ vs 38t$) between base and turbo, and in japan it was quite similar difference. So they both were expensive cars all around the world. 2) Lesser models doesn't affect price, Porsche 911 for example. 3) Supra name heritage. It's a good name and Supra line has always been loved by people and the press, but earlier generations were a real mass products. There is a lot of different models too, and MKIV n/a is the second best in performance (after MKIV TT). So it does not affect overall value of the Supra's. 4) In britain there is a lot of Supra's that are in a very bad condition or chavved out*, and this shows in overall value of the car population. My Supra is from england and it was in totally shit condition. Mechanically sound but some chav did rape interior completely and forget the maintenance of the car. Now, after a lot of work and some money, it is far better shape and it is a cracking car. Even in this forum, some chap did think that 120£ is too much for ABS sensor. If you don't chance that kind of parts, it WILL lower yours car value. For example in germany RHD Supra's are much more expensive than in britain, and those cars are usually in quite good condition. So i think that reason number 4 is the most important thing why price of the Supra is't that high in britain. In continental europe (LHD markets) even RHD Supras are quite expensive to buy. *There is a lot of lovely and beautiful Supras in GB, like in this forum. I just did write things in general level. Very valid point made there JP. come to think of it I think the supra is the only car that does look exactly the same through the range, the only thing different I can think of is the uk spec tt has the bonnet vent and fogs I think..... Ive generally noticed that a mint low mileage supra is worth a great deal. definitely a future classic with a growing price tag. Jamie you just bought a minter, why not store it away and let it appreciate? cars like that are very very rare indeed....

Jord
I think the supra already is iconic, it never fails to get looks and anyone who knows what one is will always stop and talk to me about it or comment on it wherever I am. Even had a motor bike pull up next to me and lights his morning and the rider had a quick chat about it. I think the n/a aspect helps make it accessible to more fans of the car and the n/a is still faster and nicer to drive than most cars you could buy for the same money. The supra is still a really rare car I even get excited when I see another supra on the road.

supra_aero
My supra has easily doubled in value since I bought it three years ago. It's was a stock na for 2k in white. For some reason no one went to see it before me. Near mint condition. I ve just upgraded sound system keeping stock supra grills, added decatted blitz nur spec exhaust and brakes with led c west covered rear lights and I ve kept original rear lights. Would never sell it for less than 4k and it's mint compared to the ton of chavvy tat I see these days. To get an equivalent tt would be at least 6.5k. There s always going to be a market for the na. JackyBoi
I think the TT6 will be worth a considerably larger amount of money as years go by; it is a hugely popular car and like most people have said, it IS already an icon!
KamaSupra
Considering I only did about 6000 miles in 7 years in my NA aerotop, I hope that means my new TT6 I have just bought goes up a lot in value. What with me not putting much mileage on her for years to come She's also garaged 24/7, have to keep her mint
