Dnk
Mate, I was in the same position as you not too long ago. I bought an sz-r and I cant describe how happy I am with it. They are amazing cars and with a n/a you get a car that will never go wrong and you can enjoy EVERY day! The TTs are awesome, yes. But if it is out of your budget I dont see why you should compromise with an auto. Also the n/a is not slow.
Guigsy
My TT would do 30 mpg on a run if i wanted it too and was cheaper to insure than an NA, no cons to owning a TT as long as you look after it, i did over 150,000 miles in mine with no major issues to engine, turbos or drivetrain Mine had 160k on the clock when I sold it. The only large issues I had was the brake lines corroding through. Which was my fault for not actioning sooner when it was spotted at mot. nolizma
Fair enough, Let me rephrase. "..you will get a car that has much less to go wrong compared to a twin turbo"
Dnk
Fair enough, Let me rephrase. "..you will get a car that has much less to go wrong compared to a twin turbo" Apart from the turbos and they're operating system the rest is pretty much the same. Havard
Apart from the turbos and they're operating system the rest is pretty much the same. Funny, my TT I have had for 4 years and never had a single issue. Just maintenance and tyres etc.

Dnk
Funny, my TT I have had for 4 years and never had a single issue. Just maintenance and tyres etc. I had to replace a few parts but nothing involving the drive train, engine or turbos, had my second tt for 13 years

There are always exceptions like with every car, but with your budget I think you can get a very good example.
Dnk
They can be a never ending story now in having to replace old tired parts even if the car has been looked after radiators, heater matrix's, brake lines, fuel lines, brake calipers, engine hoses, suspension arms, to name but a few
ShawnPreece
Welcome, first thing is you can't compare a civic to a supra http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/17/sa7u9yje.jpg What's your budget and are you looking for NA/TT? hahahaha love this yeah definately go for the Supra mate, just beware it easily turns into an addiction, the na is an absolutely awesome car and totally bullet proof but once you experience a TT you will end up wanting to spend the difference, i had a TT and now more recently a na but missed the TT so much that im on major money save mode now to save up enough to get another TT
JackyBoi
Even for an NA? Personally never driven an NA but I hear with simple BPU they can be more powerful than you'd expect... It's all about the 2JZ engine buddy, NA or TT you're still gonna get a kick in the back
masterfett
i have a n/a manual fantastic car to drive reliable and feels solid also with it being a n/a its not to heavy on fuel and is fantastic on insurance there are pros and cons to having a tt and a n/a its debatable... Hmmm well i kinda disagree with this. Whilst my manual N/A was lovely. My TT costs me no more to run, even though its semi-bpu and auto. insurance only costs me £197. go figure!!? As to N/A TT Auto or manual. Drive them all and then decide, cant fault my Auto TT really (Plus you get to install cool flappy paddles if you wish - best of both worlds!) Personally never driven an NA but I hear with simple BPU they can be more powerful than you'd expect... It's all about the 2JZ engine buddy, NA or TT you're still gonna get a kick in the back Never had my N/A on a dyno, not alot more i could have done to it to up the power to be honest. But it doesn't compare to a TT at all. Edited July 17, 2014 by masterfett (see edit history)

There are always exceptions like with every car, but with your budget I think you can get a very good example. I will also add that mine is more reliable than most as it never moves. For the OP, go TT manual if you can afford to. My NA was great but I got used to the power very quickly and only the manual box kept me entertained in the twisties. I now have a TT Tiptronic and although it is fast in a straight line, I have never trusted the kickdown in the corners that has claimed many a Supra owner in the wet. ManwithSupra
NA Supra - Around 220bhp weighs around 1450kgs (152 bhp per tonne) CTR - Around 197bhp weighs around 1300kgs (152 bhp per tonne) There is simply nothing in it in terms of performance really. Get a TT
Fleemon
Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciate it. I will have a think and a look around and let you all know. Thanks again!
jay200bhp
the na is not as fast or capable car as the ep3 ctr mate
Josh42
the na is not as fast or capable car as the ep3 ctr mate I disagree there. Not only did I spank CTR's at Santa Pod, but through the twisties on some private B roads, he couldn't keep up either. I'd buy the supra. Chris Bailey
Is it a bad time to mention I beat a tt6 bpu at santa pod in my n/a? and actually, I'm sure there was a blue single on here recently that only managed a 14.6 or something at the pod, which is only .1 second quicker than my n/a, despite the extra 400hp! To be fair to the single turbo owner...it was an unprepared santa pod track and had been raining so track was slippy he only got traction when he shifted into 3rd/4th gear. Saying thay though your N/A was quick with the drag radials Edited July 17, 2014 by Chris Bailey (see edit history)
fastcar
With 5k I would be looking for a tt auto but you could buy a nice N/A manual put a sorted suspension set up on it like a mr wilson suspension some good tires and trust me it will keep up with a tt in the corners but be prepared for major disappointment when you get to a straight on a tight road where power means nothing and two good drivers I would have to agree. my good man I challenge you to a duel:duel:
rider
Funny, my TT I have had for 4 years and never had a single issue. Just maintenance and tyres etc. My TT6 has been sitting outside for 16 years, 15 literally outside with the last year in a new garage. Never had an issue with it, including never blown a single bulb. jay200bhp
i loved my na and my civic type r but honest the civic was faster... the na is lardy... ive had a twin turbo an na and my current single ...im baiting a bit josh though ...try an na and try a TT..... auto and manual then u decide mate
Josh42
I have a single now mate. But even still, I'll take the NA over the Type R every day of the week. The supra is definitely a larger car, but it's more complimentary and more rewarding:)
