LOGIE
Im loving the support the auto is getting lately. I get sick of hearing people banging on about how crap they are. Seemless quick upshift and smooth.
Scooter
Dont waste your time with a n/a perhaps... sorry but it gives a supra a bad name fact, fiction.... if toyota only made tt mkiv's then it would have gone down as history as one of the most amazing cars bollocks... KamaSupra
I should have my NA Aerotop up for sale in a week or so, within your budget, it is in amazing condition and in black Nooooooooooo!! Maybe I should buy it back?
tooquicktostop
Nooooooooooo!! Maybe I should buy it back? Kelli loves it and it is a stunning car, but she has taken to the power so quickly and is ready for a TT, I cant say no !
Chris Bailey
Another vote for the auto...ive heard people on this forum who have had 6spd boxes and have said they preferred the auto. The kickdown on the auto at BPU level is savage and very addictve. Definitely something to be experienced before setting your heart on a 6spd box. KamaSupra
Aero doesn't mean auto mines a aerott6 But deans car was owned by karmasupra and it is a beautiful car Cheers Rob, I took seriously good care of her for 7 years By the way it's KamaSupra not KarmaSupra Kelli loves it and it is a stunning car, but she has taken to the power so quickly and is ready for a TT, I cant say no ! Go NA-TT conversion or NA-T I'll have a look through my old pm's tomorrow and see if I still have the pm's off other people who were interested from when I was selling her. dazla100
i have a n/a manual fantastic car to drive reliable and feels solid also with it being a n/a its not to heavy on fuel and is fantastic on insurance there are pros and cons to having a tt and a n/a its debatable... mellonman
perhaps... fiction.... bollocks... Okay maybe abit harsh saying the N/A gives the supra a bad name, as they are very reliable , but in performance wise they are not so great do you not really thing that back in the 90's when this car was made it was a feat of engineering with the TT ? Benjy
Driven properly, NA manuals can keep up with a stock TT. I know this because I kept up with a BPU TT Auto in my 6speed. Having said that, I wouldn't buy another 6 speed. Yeah, the box is ultra reliable and pretty much bullet proof, but £3k worth of gearbox to feel like you're driving a UniMog is daft. For big power builds fair enough, they need it, but BPU level the stock autobox is massively underrated. And John Bailey's big single pushing nearly 700ft/lb of torque is running a built autobox, and that thing's savage!!
stevie_b
Okay maybe abit harsh saying the N/A gives the supra a bad name, as they are very reliable , but in performance wise they are not so great You're judging it by a single criteria though: performance. People who buy an NA supra usually don't have performance as their first criteria. It'll be somewhere on the list, but not top. It's a bit like saying Ford Focus hatchbacks are rubbish because the Focus estate can carry lots more stuff. Not everyone buys a Focus for its load-carrying ability. do you not really thing that back in the 90's when this car was made it was a feat of engineering with the TT ? Yes
Chris Wilson
An NA budget of 5k looking for a clean one :/ in no rush though £5000 will easily buy twin turbo models, but DO NOT underestimate the running and maintenance costs of the things. It's no use spending all you can spare on any car, then immediately being unfortunate enough to have issues that you cannot then afford to address. These are very well built cars, but most are also very OLD cars... Old cars, like old people, have issues that are not always simple to sort out Edited July 17, 2014 by Chris Wilson (see edit history)
natony
I grew up on hondas and everyone hankered after the integra type R because it was sooo fast 0-60 in 6.2.........which is exactly the same as an NA manual supra. People on here will tell you NA'S are slow but in reality the are just slow compared to a TT, If you compared them to most things on the road they are very quick. My TT would do 30 mpg on a run if i wanted it too and was cheaper to insure than an NA, no cons to owning a TT as long as you look after it, i did over 150,000 miles in mine with no major issues to engine, turbos or drivetrain Edited July 17, 2014 by Dnk (see edit history)
TheTurtleshead
By the way it's KamaSupra not KarmaSupra You do realise everyone is going to call you Karmasupra now. It's he Havard, Harold... or is it Harvard conundrum all over again...! On the subject of autos. TT auto's are good cars. Not as exciting as a manual, but very good cars indeed. Don't bother with an N/A auto.... Dreadfully boring!

Justin Bieber
Is it a bad time to mention I beat a tt6 bpu at santa pod in my n/a? and actually, I'm sure there was a blue single on here recently that only managed a 14.6 or something at the pod, which is only .1 second quicker than my n/a, despite the extra 400hp! I'm just not a fast driver. And I only wear skirts on special occasions. (I've been beaten by a bus from a standing start in my NA)
Chris Wilson
Maybe it's because most blokes would prefer somone who calls themselves Justin Bieber to be in front of them, or at least within their peripheral vision? Axl
With 5k I would be looking for a tt auto but you could buy a nice N/A manual put a sorted suspension set up on it like a mr wilson suspension some good tires and trust me it will keep up with a tt in the corners but be prepared for major disappointment when you get to a straight

nolizma
Mate, I was in the same position as you not too long ago. I bought an sz-r and I cant describe how happy I am with it. They are amazing cars and with a n/a you get a car that will never go wrong and you can enjoy EVERY day! The TTs are awesome, yes. But if it is out of your budget I dont see why you should compromise with an auto. Also the n/a is not slow.
