Ric
Hi Guys, I tried not to create this thread as i know the offset question has been asked many times on here, but im really struggling with it. Im away from the car so i don't know my current wheels offset etc which adds to me asking. Im looking to purchase some new wheels, my car has rolled arches on the rear, stock arches on the front. I will have UK brakes installed. The wheel im looking at is 19" (i know it's not prefered, but i had 19's on my previous car and it was fine) the choice is have is: Front Axle 19 x 9.0" 5 x 114.3 ET30 Rear Axle 19 x 9.5" 5 x 114.3 ET40 Ideally i would like a smaller front wheel (so the rears are more concaved) so i have the below option in a 8.5" wheel on the front. Front Axle 19 x 8.5" 5 x 114.3 ET20 Rear Axle 19 x 9.5" 5 x 114.3 ET40 Are these wheels going to be OK under my arches? Thanks for the help guys. JamieP
Either is fine for clearing the body Ric. Can't say if they will clear the UK brakes though, that's more down to dish and spoke design than offset.
Ric
Cheers Jamie, i hope you'd reply, as you seem to have had loads experience calculating offsets haha. I will try the 8.5 front's i don't mind a small hub-centric spacer on the front to miss the callipers, id prefer to avoid it though.
Ric
Regarding tyre widths also, Using this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?302100-FAQ-Tyre-size-chart Id be best with a 275 on the rear and 255 on the front?
JamieP
I'd probably go 265 and 245. I think that will sit nicer on that size wheel.
Ric
Looking back at tyres here. The place where i'm looking at purchasing the wheels is offering a package with the following size tyres: Front - 235x35x19 rear - 265x30x19 or 275x30x19 Is there a problem with running a lower profile tyre on the back? would it make it look funny at the front? I would expect the 30-35 profile needs to be the same all round?
monsween
I run 9.5 et35 up front very low with no roll and it scuffs only occasionally. 10 et35 on the back with a roll and no scuffs at all. 255/35 up front and 285/35 at the back. If you want a nicer flusher fit i'd go with this setup as it works really well.
Ric
I dont have those width wheels... a 255 isnt going to go on a 8.5 wheel, nor will a 285 go on a 9.5 wheel, well they will, but will bulge badly.
